Fleas, Fleas Everywhere!

fleasIf you are like most of us, you are combating fleas on your pets right now.  We took the dogs in for a flea bath yesterday and it took two shampoos to get them all.  While the dogs were at the groomers, we worked on the two cats with a flea comb and a bowl of water with 4 tsp. Dawn dish soap.  We wet the comb with the soapy water & combed the fleas off the cats.  As we found fleas, we would quickly immerse the comb into the soapy water to kill the fleas.  After killing the fleas on them, we grabbed up all of the bedding & started washing it as well.  With the bedding, the most important part is drying it at least 30 min. in a hot dryer to kill fleas, larvae & eggs.  After doing all this, we started sweeping the house.  We swept carpets, rugs, furniture…anything covered in fabric.  Tonight we will do it all again other than the flea baths.  Being vigilant in sweeping & killing the fleas is about the only sure way to get rid of them.  All of our animals use a topical flea preventative, but sometimes they just become less effective.  Be sure to discuss this with your veterinarian & meanwhile know that it isn’t just your pets that are struggling with these pesky little critters.  At Sit-Stay-Play In-Home Petting Sitting & More we will care for your pets whether they have fleas or not!  No prejudice here!  We will even be happy to apply the topical medicines or give the oral ones if you need for us to do this.  Be sure to check out all our services on our website that can be found at Sit-Stay-Play In-Home petting sitting & more, LLC or http://www.sit-stay-play.com/
